Grey's Philosophy

Meredith Grey, the protagonist of Grey's Anatomy, has been a source of inspiration and realisations. She is scary and damaged, dark and twisty. She has a number of issues of her father and abandonment variety, but she is really trying to work through them. Sometimes, though, the easiest thing to do is drown your sorrows in tequila. She does the same. And then people, that is the "Day".

The "Day" when dark and twisty Meredith disappears forever, and bright and shiny Meredith takes her place. You probably do not want to be her friend anymore. because the sheer intensity of her happiness will make your teeth hurt, but she is okay with that, because....Life Is Good! :-)

Some of her quotes which I personally like:

-When we follow our hearts, we choose not to settle. It's funny, isn't it?
A weight lifts. The Sun shines a little brighter. And for a brief moment at least, we find a little peace.

-You don't have to be tough every minute of every day. It's okay to let down your guard.

-If there's just one piece of advice I can give you, it's this-
'When there's something you really want, fight for it no matter how hopeless it seems. And when you  have lost hope, ask yourself in 10 years from now, you are going to wish you gave it just one more  shot because the best things in life, they don't come for free'.

-"I think you can't wait for someone to fly underneath you and save your life. I think you have to save   yourself"

-You can seek the advice of others, surround yourself with trusted advisers. But in the end the decision is always yours and yours alone. And when it's time to act and you are all alone with your back against the wall, the only voice that matters is the one in your head. The one telling you what you already knew. The one that is almost always right.

-We are adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop?

-"I love you, in a really, really big 'pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window', unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So Pick me, Choose me, Love me.

-Go, hug yourself.

-Time waits for no man. Time heals all wounds. All any of us want, is more time. Time to stand up, time to grow up, time to let go.

-It's like one day you realize the fairy tale might be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle and it's not so important that it's happy ever after, just that it's happy right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you and once in a while, people may even take your breath away.

-We are friends, real friends. And that means, no matter how long it takes, when you finally do decide to look back, I will still be there.

-Knowing is better than wondering. Waking is better than sleeping. Even the biggest failure, even the most in-traceable mistake, beats the hell out of never trying.

'ONE' can change your life

There comes a point where we feel that life is frowning upon us, destiny has smacked us hard in our ribs and no good shall happen. We are so upset about people and situations that we do not live but just 'exist'. However, when the road ends, we are bound to take a U-turn. At such times, just step back a little, turn and take a panorama of your life. You will find that the answer lies in the question itself.

Once you find the 'ONE', you change, and you change not just for good or better but for the best. The 'ONE' thing which I am talking about may come in your life in any form: a person, a situation, a movie, a conversation, a realisation,a book,a dream or any other thing under the sky. And when you find it, it is like the best thing to ever happen to you. It inspires you. It makes things go easy for you just by being there, at the right time at the right place. You now run much faster in your life and in the correct direction. That 'ONE' thing has been the solution to all our problems. The entangled thread now starts to unwind. It fills the gap and the picture becomes clearer and complete :-)

This 'ONE' thing may come at any stage of our lives. It is necessary to believe that it will come. What can we do till it arrives is to keep walking down the way, however stony it is without worrying. Be ready to welcome the 'ONE' and a super brand new 'YOU' will follow.

Keep Smiling :-)

Smile.Because it really costs nothing.

Rule 1: Smile.
Rule 2: Smile more.
Rule 3: Smile the most.

I am attending a Youth Special Happiness Programme conducted by The Art of Living. It was the first day yesterday, and it was a wonderful experience.

There are some things in our life that we are already aware of and also know how they will help us, but we are just too lazy to try and implement them. The first thing that I learned yesterday was to SMILE :-).
Just a mere simple smile makes a huge difference. When there is no rule as to at what point of time in life and under what circumstances and situations is a person allowed to smile and be happy, then why are we not allowing ourselves to do so? Are we afraid of being happy? Of course not. Then why aren't we?
Weird,isn't it?

The reason why we are not happy is what the second thing I learned. Everybody has some kind of problems in their life because of which they are disturbed. The thing I learned is, it is in our own hands as to how much importance is to be given to them. For instance, when a child cries, sometimes,he just wants to seek attention and get pampered and nothing is actually bothering him. But we,thinking that he is in some kind of trouble, keep attending him. The more we do so, crankier the child gets. Same is with the problems in our life. We pay needless attention and make them larger than life. Yes,they exist in our life and have a negative impact, but we have an option. An option of overpowering them, an option to work out a way through them and an option to SMILE :-).

It is now when I truly understand that 'We are, indeed, responsible for our own happiness'. So let us try and make an effort to make our lives happier.

KEEP SMILING :-)

Here comes the First one..!!!

It has been quite a long time that I wanted to do this..to BLOG......and after spending a hell lot of time on editing and formatting, I finally come up with my very first post which I had written 3 years back for M.I.L.E.S. magazine.

I hope and wish to come up with wonderul stuff to read, in days to come. So here goes the first one..

WISHES,DESIRES,ASPIRATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

What do we expect from Tendulkar standing out there on the field battling a ferocious Brett Lee running his way thirsty for his wicket? A six? Or at least a four........But have we ever given a second thought to what would be running through his mind? He would be surely thinking about how to tackle the ball the best, if not a six or a four,at least a single but not a wicket at any cost. Its quite easy giving suggestions(sometimes when not asked for) but difficult to implement those in our lives. Suggestions are often followed by expectations and further by responsibilities. It is not that Tendulkar can't hit a six on Brett Lee's ball. It is that it cannot happen every single time. If it had been anybody but Tendulkar facing Lee we would never had shed a tear on the batsman getting out on a duck. The name, fame and the goodwill which Tendulkar has earned and cherished all these years makes us expect more from him.

It is the ability that matters. It is the willpower that matters. The will to win is worthless if you do not have the will to prepare.Expectations often run parallel to the ability and level of success attained and climb an upper inclined graph with them. You perform well  and you got to shoulder heavy expectations thereon. Surely, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. The crux is that not every time you are at the peak of your performing capacity and sometime syour wishes do remain unfulfilled. However, it must not restrict you from widening your horizon of aspirations. Attitude and not aptitude determine your altitude. Aspirations are like a plant seed.....if properly watered will bear sweet fruits.....if not, it won't take long to die.....

Aspiring something make you develop competitive approach. It acts as a driving force making you pave your own way towards your dream. Not hundreds but thousands of hindrances would obstruct your way ,but at the end of the day your passion for your dream, your determination to achieve it helps you surpass them and shine brightly. On the road to success people will always throw stones at you. Its upto you that whether to get hurt by them or pick them up and use them to make a strong foundation for your success.

Aspirations give you energy to live, to do better thanwhat you did yesterday. They help you to compete with yourself. Not only aspiring something is important but the aspirations need to be
well directed as well. Managing the time, focusing on your goal and planning accordingly is a must for achieving your aspirations. If one is consistent in his approach and trusts his abilities then he should keep working to the best of his abilities and then the expectations would not remain a burden anymore. They expectations would then act as a support, a hand to hold on when in need; a shade to rest in the scorching heat and a shoulder to cry on as a friend indeed.

Mariam Macceba, the empress of African singing and the activist for the black community people , could not throw away the tyrannic white rule from Africa if she did not have that goblet of
fire burning inside her and the determination to fight and emerge victoriously.A path without obstacles is a path that leads nowhere. One should have the courage to look at his desires as aspirations and should dare to pursue it to become successful.

Parents, teachers, society may expect some things from you.Become a doctor, an engineer or a CA. You can never be truly successful till you do what you want to. You should not let the voices
of other's expectations to drown your own inner voice. Trust your instinct, your heart. It somehow knows what you truly want to become.Explore  the hidden "YOU" in you, allow him to be the master of your life. Your patience in planning and his impatience in execution together would work wonders.

It is truly said that," Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss it ,you will land up amongst the stars".
